Millwall and Huddersfield Town battling it out for Premier League ‘keeper

Millwall and Huddersfield Town are both keen on AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

The 21-year-old could leave the Cherries this summer, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

Ramsdale is a highly-rated young ‘keeper and has represented England at all levels from Under-18 to Under-21 so far in his career.

The Staffordshire-born stopper spent the second half of this season on loan at League One side AFC Wimbledon and helped them stay up. He made 23 appearances for the Dons.

Ramsdale started his career at Bolton Wanderers before switching to Sheffield United in 2016. He played twice for the Blades as a youngster in games against Leyton Orient and Bolton.

Bournemouth then swooped to sign him in January 2017 for a fee of around £1 million. He has not played for the Cherries’ first-team yet but has enjoyed loan spells at Chesterfield and then Wimbledon.

Millwall could be in the hunt for a new goalkeeper this summer and Ramsdale could fit the bill for them. He is young, promising and is looking for regular game time which the Lions could offer him.

Newly-relegated Huddersfield will be keen to bounce back to the Premier League as soon as possible and are hoping to persuade Ramsdale to move back to Yorkshire. They have been linked with him for a while but will face competition for his signature now.

It will be interesting to see where Ramsdale ends up this summer with numerous clubs eyeing up a move.
