Bolton Wanderers teenager not thought to be on Celtic’s radar

Bolton Wanderers teenager Ronan Darcy is not thought to be on Glasgow giants Celtic’s summer wish list despite the player having previously been linked with a move to Celtic Park according to reports by the Daily Record.

The 18-year-old Skelmersdale-born forward has come through the academy system at The Macron Stadium and is being tipped for first team honours in the future.

Earlier reports from Football Insider suggested that both Celtic and English Premier League club Chelsea were keen to sign the youngster from Bolton Wanderers in a bargain deal this summer, however, the latest reports have confirmed that Celtic are not believed to be in the race to sign Darcy.

The striker started the season in Bolton Wanderers’ Under-18 side but his impressive performances at that level have resulted in Darcy being given game time with the club’s Under-23s. The player started both of Wanderers Under-23s’ last two games in the Professional Development League at home to Charlton Athletic and away at Cardiff City and he gave good accounts of himself.

Darcy has also spent part of the season on loan at hometown club Skelmersdale United, although he was unable to save them from relegation.

Should Darcy remain at Bolton Wanderers beyond the summer, he will be looking to push towards making his first senior appearance for the club next season.
