Player Ratings: Bolton 2-1 Millwall – Fergie and Thompson stand out in a limp Millwall performance.

Bolton clinched their first home win in ten attempts, beating Millwall on Saturday afternoon.

Jordan Archer – 6

The goalkeeper did what he could but didn’t have a chance with either of the goals. Made a number of good stops that prevented the scoreline from being a lot worse. Two good saves in the second half particularly one down at his near post.

Mahlon Romeo – 5

The defender dealt with the threats from Bolton well. He was never really troubled. His play in the attacking third was okay but he also never caused a threat going forward.

Alex Pearce – 6

Making his first league start for Millwall, did not have much to do in the first half. Looked solid alongside Cooper in the centre of defence. Made a number of decent interceptions. He came close to scoring but his shot was cleared off the line.

Jake Cooper – 6

A quiet afternoon for the central defender. He as always was threat from set pieces but was marshalled well by the Bolton defence. Was not at fault for either goal.

James Meredith – 5

The Australian had a solid first half win just his second appearance since January the 12th. He coped well in the first half but let himself down in the second when he was caught out of position twice. He was replaced mid way through the second half by Marshall.

Jed Wallace – 6

Not the best of afternoons for the winger, However, he did supply the cross that led to Gregory’s late consolation.

Shaun Williams – 5

In a game where his quality on the ball could have been shown. He was unable to pick out the killer pass that could have opened up the Bolton defence. He is struggling for form right now but is not the only one finding it tough going at present.

Ben Thompson – 6

The Academy product was the brightest spark once again in the first half. Went on a couple of early charging runs through the middle. He never gave up and drove Millwall forward as much as he could. He was twice denied by the goalkeeper in the second half.

Shane Ferguson – 5

Not his best afternoon but like Thompson never gave up and kept trying to drive Millwall forward. Got forward well in the first half and produced some inviting crosses but they came to nothing. Moved to left back later in the game.

Tom Elliott – 3

Found it hard to get into the game. Was marshalled well by the Bolton centre halves and failed to retain possession on a number of occasions. Should have done better with a header late in the game that could have led to an equalising goal.

Lee Gregory – 5

Looked lively early on with his movement causing the Bolton back four problems. Played a lovely flick to Elliott also the latter could play the ball across goal. Scored with a lovely finish to get Millwall a consolation and set up a nervy finish. He now has 11 for the season.

Subs

Ben Marshall (James Meredith) – 4

Marshall was introduced after the second goal and tried to make an impact. He never really got going and failed to make the desired impact.

Steve Morison (Shaun Williams) 5

The striker came on and won some headers, he tried to get Millwall moving on the front foot but overall didn’t make the desired impact.
