Bolton Wanderers and Ipswich Town targeting Rangers right-back

Bolton Wanderers and Ipswich Town are targeting Rangers defender Lee Hodson, according to The Sun.

The right-back is currently on loan at Scottish Premiership side St Mirren and has played in every league game for them this season.

Hodson, who is 27 years-old, is out of contract at Rangers in the summer meaning the Glasgow side are willing to listen to offers for him this month.

He has emerged as a target for Bolton. The Trotters are keen to bolster their defence to try and stay in the Championship this season.

They will have to face competition from relegation rivals Ipswich Town though. Paul Lambert’s side have been very busy in this transfer window. The Tractor Boys are currently rock bottom of the second tier but have managed to bring in the likes of Will Keane, Alan Judge and James Collins.

Hodson has experience of playing in the Championship before and could be a shrewd acquisition by one of these sides.

He started his career with local side Boreham Wood before he was signed by Watford in 2004 as a youngster. He went onto play 91 times for the Hornets altogether.

MK Dons then snapped him up in 2013 after a brief loan spell at Brentford. Hodson helped the Dons gain promotion to the Championship in 2015 before spending time on loan in Scotland with Kilmarnock in the latter half of the 2015/16 season.

Rangers signed him in the summer of 2016 and he played a total of 27 games for the Ibrox club before going out on loan to St Mirren. Could he be set for a return to England now?
