Aston Villa have joined West Brom and Preston North End in the race to sign former Sheffield United winger CJ Hamilton from Mansfield Town, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Aston Villa sent scouts to watch CJ Hamilton in play against Crawley last night. Tyler Walker netted a late winner for Mansfield Town as they moved into the top three in League Two with victory over Crawley.

Earlier in January, Mansfield Town rejected a £750k bid from Championship side Preston North End for promising winger CJ Hamilton, who has been impressive this season.

Also, Aston Villa have been linked with a move Barry Town defender Macauley Southam-Hales. Ipswich Town, Bolton Wanderers and Barnsley also reported to be interested in the left-back and have watched him in action this season.

About CJ Hamilton –

CJ Hamilton joined Mansfield Town in June 2016, after he was released by Sheffield United at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

The pacy winger made 41 appearances in all competitions last season for Mansfield Town as his caused endless problems for every defence he came up against.

CJ Hamilton is tipped to become Mansfield Town’s first £1 million player. Manager David Flitcroft has done a fine job in harnessing the talents of this exciting prospect.

In the summer, CJ Hamilton signed a new two-year contract with the League Two club. The club also has an option to extend the deal with the 23-year-old former Sheffield United player.
